The Federation is the controlling government apparatus of Amerius, forcing generations of humans into population control campaigns to reduce the human population to roughly 500 million people.
Four mega cities have emerged over the centuries — Amerius, Acedia, Anglorum, Praetorius and Sicagum — connected by an intricate network of trade routes controlled by a fascist government and an unscrupulous criminal network. Travel is restricted and movement is monitored by paranoid officials fearful of their people.
Amerius is the capital and oldest of the four cities. It has served as the center of government and commerce, withstanding fires, rebellions, politics, wars and a devastating biological attack. Before the attack, Amerius was a densely populated city of tens of millions.
There are several booming industries: human trafficking, smuggling and designer narcotics are just a few of the lucrative trades common on the streets.
